Drain Tools - Using a Plunger

Plungers work best when they're submerged in a few inches of water. This helps them seal against a sink or a toilet bowl. When using a plunger, place its cup over the drain opening and plunge up and down vigorously ten to twenty times. This builds pressure in the line. If this doesn't clear the obstruction, try pulling the plunger up rapidly to suck the clog free. If this doesn't work, you should try to use a closet auger. Failing that, you'll have to clear the main line.
